Misc. Monday: Can you believe it?

Iris turned 5 months old yesterday! I can not believe that 5 months have passed already. Poor little kid is just along for the ride in our crazy lives! She has the most wonderful disposition. She is as happy as can be, loves to watch her big sis, rolls over, scoots, loves to stand, chuckles, and can sit up for short periods of time. We are so in love with her.

Just Because

I decided to take Lilly out for frozen yogurt tonight, just the two of us (working mom guilt). As we were sitting there chit chatting, she said that she needed to give me a kiss. I blew one to her from across the table and she told me, "No, I need to get out of my chair." She climbed down and came around the table, kissed me on the lips and said, "Thank you for taking me to the ice cream store." I just about cried right there on the spot. We had a little left and she told me she wanted to take some home to Daddy to share on the couch. She said we wouldn't be "too messy." As I buckled her into the car seat, she said, "I love you Mommy." Seriously, I can't make this stuff up! I just pray she always loves me like she does now.

Misc. Monday: It's Off To Work We Go

Today was my first official day with kids. (Dan gets his tomorrow). I have to say that it was such a whirlwind that I didn't even have time to miss my babies at home. They were is good hands with their Grammy and Papa though. My mom and sister are going to be helping out when they can, and I still have Mondays off this year. Woo - Hoo! All of a sudden, summer feels so far away. Here are some pictures from our last hurrah in Big Bear. We had a blast!

Sew Crafty Saturday: Summer Projects

Here are a few projects I completed (or almost) this summer. I made a reversible sewing machine cover for my new Janome baby. See the fancy stitch it can do? I am almost finished with my baby quilt from quilt class; all I have to do now is bind it. I made a few more onsies and am working on some crocheted baby headbands I saw in Big Bear for $18 a piece. On the drive to Big Bear, I embroidered a new kitchen towel too. I also spent some time this summer working on the girls' scrapbooks. I have a notebook full of things I saw and want to try, but it will probably be awhile now that school is starting on Monday. I hope people are looking forward to some handmade gifts this year!

Misc. Monday: Bye-Bye Summer

Summer is coming to a close. I officially go back to work tomorrow. I feel sad to leave the girls all day long. It's hard because I realize that many moms don't get the summer that I am blessed with. I have to remind my self to appreciate the time we have together and not dwell on the time I am away from home. I do love my job and many people can't say that either... The last few weeks have been jam packed with fun. We went to Balboa last week to get a frozen banana. It has become a summer family tradition for us ever since I was pregnant with Lilly. (I'm pretty sure that summer, we went a dozen times)! We even took her back when she was just a months old. This time she got her first banana all to herself. Iris can't wait for it to be her turn!

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Los Banos, CA

Last weekend, we went to Los Banos to visit Dan's sister & her family. It was a lot of fun. Lilly and her cousin Michael are 3 months apart, and they love to play, but hate to share with each other! We visited some antique stores, had ice cream at an old fashion drug store, went to the park, played in the pool, ate yummy meals made by Uncle Ryan, and visited the local fire station. What fun!

Wee-Ones Wednesday: My Girls

Check out these pics of my girls wearing the same dress. Just look at their arms! It has been so fun to see how different they are, inside and out!

Misc. Monday: Really???

I have no cute pics today, and I suppose this is pretty random, but I feel the need to share. We were at Babies R Us this weekend and there were three bibs that really sent me over the edge: "Single and Fabulous, Flirt, & Hottie." I realize I can be a bit square, but really? Baby bibs?

Sew Crafty Saturday: Clay

I will probably post more pictures in this entry than I usually do because this was such an awesome day. All of us went down to Dan's School one morning to visit our friend Jennifer who is teaching a ceramics class this summer. Lilly got to play with the clay, meet one of her chickens, and we put her hands and Iris' feet in clay. It was so much fun. This was the most focused Lilly has ever been. She was quiet (hard to believe, I know) and was super impressed with the big kids. Thank you, Jennifer, for giving her this opportunity. I'm sure we will crash your class again next summer!
