Misc. Monday: Iris Update

Our Little Miss did a great job this week with her breathing treatments. She even put the mask on her babies. Lilly loved to sing her songs to help pass the time. Her favorite one to sing was "Who Know How Long I've Loved You?" by the Beatles.  We went for another follow up appointment today, and Iris is ready to stop wearing the mask. Whoohoo! She has even been cleared for travel. Snow, here we come! We need to take the little inhaler with us from now on, just in case. They will be watching her closely to see if she will be asthmatic. We will be watching her closely because we love her.

Sew Crafty Saturday: Thirty five!

I had a very special birthday a few weeks ago filled with lots of sweet cards, books, chocolate, perfume, Wonder Woman, pretty little jars, a new bag, and so much more! I hoestly think this was my best birthday yet. Dan took me down to Doheny Beach for a night of camping the Friday before, and we had dinner with the girls and our parents on the 15th. I still have a dinner date rain check with my sis and her hubby that got knocked off the books due to our unexpected hospital vacation. You better check your calendar, Penny!

Wee-One Wednesday: Poor Baby!

I will try to keep this as brief as possible, but so much has happened since Friday, that you are going to have to bear with me! Iris has had a cold for awhile now, nothing out of the ordinary...no fevers, clear snot, healthy appetite, & great disposition. Friday night, her breathing became shallow, so I took her to urgent care. They tried forever to get a reading of her oxygen levels, but she was scared and did not make it easy for them. They proceeded to give her a breathing treatment, take x-rays, give her another breathing treatment, have another doctor give a second opinion, told me she had pneumonia in her left lung and was getting an ear infection, gave her a shot of antibiotics, a prescription, and sent us home.
She slept with us that night, and Saturday, Dan took Lilly over to his parents to give Iris some time to rest. By the time they got back, I told Dan we needed to go to the emergency room. There, they did another x-ray, blood test, multiple breathing treatments, and told us she would be admitted. Turns out she did not have pneumonia or an ear infection, for that matter, but bronchiolitis, which is a virus and basically bronchitis gone bad. It swells the air ways making it very difficult to breathe. We were in the hospital for 3 days and 2 nights. She could not moved more than 3 feet due to the oxygen tube, i.v., and monitor attached to her little body. Did you know that it is hospital policy that any patient under 3 yrs. old has 24 hour security outside her room? It's true!  She was amazing through it all! After awhile she would wave when the nurses left, and by the end she would even tell them, "bye bye" or "thank you." It broke my heart to see her accept this new lifestyle so quickly. I never left her side, Dan came when he was able, and the Grandparents took care of Lilly. We were discharged at 5pm on Monday. After a bath, all Iris wanted to do was push her baby stroller around the house and chase her sister.
We saw her pediatrician yesterday, and she still needs breathing treatments every four hours until we go back next Monday. She is starting to get used to them, and even held the mask for herself last night. What a little helper!
She was only in this cage/crib long enough for them to take her vitals, then it became our storage unit.

Drinking Mommy's water was way cooler than the little juice boxes they brought her.

Lilly sent a poster to the hospital to make Iris feel better.

Her baby I.V. broke my heart!

Meal delivery was the brightest part of each day.

Yay! They took the tube out of my nose!

This is how we spent our time. We watched "The Fox and the Hound" at least 12 times. She wanted her baby and purple blanket the whole time.
Thank you for all your prayers and love during this time. We are truly blessed. xoxo, Michelle

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Yummy!

Sunday, we had a few friends over to decorate cookies for Valentine's Day. I set the table before the seven kids arrived with cookies, baggies, and juice boxes. There was a small craft available while they were waiting for all the kids to arrive. It was so easy to do, and it was a lot of fun. Iris went straight to eating, while Quentin made some "serious men," and the other girls were busy concentrating on their candy placement. The sunny afternoon ended in our backyard where the kids ran off their sugar highs, and the adults got a chance to chit chat. I even left the table a mess until everyone left, which is a first for me!

Misc. Monday: XOXO

We woke up to roses from Dan this morning. What a surprise!

Heart-fruity waffles for breakfast and heart shaped grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch, followed by a heart pizza for dinner.

We had a special Valentine visit from Cousin Sophia.

Do you like our matching hair barrettes? They were very easy to make.

Littlest Pet Shop pets found at the 99 cent store. Whoohoo!

Our friend Julie has a scavenger hunt for her girls, so I thought I would give it a try.

The scavenger hunt was tons of fun. I hid 6 inexpensive treats and off they went!
Happy Valentine's Day, friends!

Misc. Monday: Flea Market Finds

Yesterday, we went to the flea market at Pasadena City College with some friends before the big game. I thought I'd share some of my treasures with you. The antique hand mixer found a home right away. Although, I have to say, the $0.50 hangers are my favorite, and how cool is it that the desk is already pink?
