Misc. Monday: My Love

Dan is a wonderful, hands on Daddy. He changes just as many diapers as I do, gives baths, does bed time, cooks occasionally, plays, sings, tickles, and dances with his kids. The other day he even let the girls face paint all over him (something I said no to).
What's even better than that is what an amazing husband he is. He always makes me feel beautiful, smart, and special. He is constanly encouraging me to spend money on myself, go out with friends, or even just take a bath. I guess I'm still smitten by the guy because this post was going to be about the face painting day and turned into a love letter to my sweet husband. I wonder when he will read it...

Sew Crafty Saturday: Windy Kites

Besides the paper airplane mobile, these kites are by far my favorite craft I made for my sister's baby shower. Dan made me some simple frames using wooden dowels, and I cut and pieced together some fabric for two of the kites, leaving the smallest one a solid color. I used coated wire for the tail and hot glue gunned the pretty little ties into place. I love how they turned out, and am planning on making one (or some) for Henry's room now.

Sidenote: My sweet nephew, Samuel Joseph, was born Friday morning, and I had the pleasure of witnessing the miracle of his birth. My sister was amazing, under 5 hours of labor & 2 pushes and he was out!

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Little Guppies

Both girls about to jump at the same time!

The girls completed their 2 weeks of swimming lessons. This was the first year in a long time that I didn't have to go in with one of them for the "Parent and Me" class. Lilly has officially learned how to swim. I can't say that it looks graceful in anyway, but her head is above water! Hooray for her. Both girls loved swimming lessons and jumped off the diving board everyday. Iris is a maniac with floaties. She loves to blow bubbles and put her face in the water. She followed all the directions given to her by the teacher, kicked her little heart out, and should be swimming in no time. If you have a pool, we are waiting for our invitaion to come over and show you our skills!

Misc. Monday: Diaper Wreath & Baby Bunting

Here's a few more things I made for my sister's baby shower. The diaper wreath was really fun and easy. I used left over scrapbook paper from the paper buntings I sewed together to make the welcome sign on the wreath. After making the initial buntings, I sewed the triangles that were cut out to make more buntings, and even used some as cupcake toppers. There was not a scrap wasted!

Sew Crafty Saturday: Airplane Mobile

One of the things I was super excited to make for my new nephew was a mobile. I painted an embroidery hoop teal. Dan made some paper airplanes out of old maps, and I sewed some little clouds out of jersey material. The quilt I made her was the inspiration because the fabric has pretty clouds on it. I also pleased with how it turned out! My sister already has it hanging in the baby's room, which means she loves it as much as I do. Hooray!

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Surf's Up!

We took the kids to Huntington to get ice cream.

Truth be told, mama doesn't love the beach.

"Can we please touch the water?"

"Fine, but just your toes."

"Wait for me!"

Of course, Iris fell in.

"Just smile.
This is your brother's first time at the beach!"

"Stop crying, we'll get you something dry to put on!"

"Seriously, did you fall in on purpose so
we would have to buy you a $35 Roxy dress?"

Sew Crafty Saturday: Puppy Quilt

Penny's baby shower was today, and it was lovely! Now I can finally post some pictures of the things I made for her and Baby Samuel. I was so excited to give her the baby quilt. It was assembled much like Henry's fox quilt, but with a little puppy. She picked out the fabric and gave me free reign on the image for the applique. I debated doing a swing, a tree, or a kite, but the puppy on the back is so sweet, I had to have him be the focal point. Aren't little boys made of frogs, snails, and puppy dog tails after all?

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Our Newest Ballerina

Iris had her 1st ballet lesson today. To say she was excited would be an understatement! She has been waiting for this day for a long time, watching her sister go to dance class has been torture. She is so happy that her friend, Mia, is in the same class. Amy and I got to stay and watch their first lesson. From now on, we will have to wait in the lobby. Iris followed all of the teacher's directions and answered every question that was asked of her like a real pro. I am one proud mommy!
