39 and Counting!

I turned thirty-nine last Saturday, and it feels surreal. I have no problem sharing my age, and don't plan on turning "twenty-nine" every year, but it still feels a bit strange. There are mornings when I wake up and wonder, "How do I have a husband, a house, and three kids?" Life is weird, hard, and lovely. As the years go by, I find myself quicker to forgive and say sorry, much more able to admit I don't know something and that I could be wrong... I'm not as certain about things as I used to be. Yet, there are some things that I am so certain of, I would bet my life on them, like the love of Jesus.
I need to make lists in order to survive, and without my calendar, I would be lost! Words can not express the love I feel for my few good friends, friends who know my heart and constantly extend me grace. I still talk too much and do too many things at once. I yell at my kids, and snap at my husband. They still love me, and I am so blessed. I've started practicing yoga and would like to have more peaceful moments. I am so glad I decided to tattoo 1 Thess. 5:16-18 on my foot: "Be joyful always. Pray continually. Give thanks in all circumstances. For this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." This is how I want to live out the next 39 years!

Little Valentines & My Forever Valentine

Every Valentine's Day, Dan gets me a dozen red roses and gives one to each girl (2012). As Henry gets older, Dan is going to include him in this ritual, so that Henry learns how to be a gentleman. I love and appreciate Dan so much for his thoughtfulness and intentionality. He really is an amazing father.
Next, was our annual scavenger hunt. Lilly was the reader. Iris was the problem solver, and Henry was the runner. Each clue revolved around a family member, and was a little harder than the year before. The gifts are small and insignificant, but the share finale gift this year was the new Taylor Swift CD (which is another blog post). The kids were so very excited. Sometimes, it's hard to keep up with how much they are growing up!

That night we went out to dinner with some dear friends, enjoyed good food, drinks and lots of laughter. Dan surprised me with gorgeous earrings to match my anniversary ring. I was very surprised. Being loved by this man is such a treat. He is patient, quick to forgive, and takes the best care of his family. I am one blessed woman!

Hugs & Kisses

Here's a little glimpse of our home in February. Lilly says I am really improving in my chalkboard skills, and I love having past and present art projects displayed on their old crib mattress frame. We read tons of Valentine themed books throughout the month, and discuss how we can show kindness and love to those around us. I took the girls to get their pictures taken together after Iris was born, and have taken Valentine pictures ever since. Pulling these photos out of the February box brings me so much joy, and I'm glad I have stuck with it!
