First Dates

I love that my kids go to a school that gives them plenty of opportunities. I love that my daughters' first school dances will have been with their father. I love that he tells them they are beautiful, and that beauty comes from the inside. I love that he opens doors for them, and speaks to me respectfully. I love the way he loves us. I love that they have a father who is a wonderful husband. This post was supposed to be about how darling the father-daughter dance was, and how cute the girls looked, but it wound up being about their father, my husband, my love. You can tell the rest by looking at the pictures anyway...

Little Seamstress

Even as a toddler, Lilly didn't really like to play with toys. She says they are boring. She likes to organize her toys, dress her dolls, and set up parties, but she doesn't really play. She loves to read, write stores, and do crafts. Lately, she has developed a love of sewing and I can not tell you how happy this makes me! We started by making a needle case together. I showed her a few hand stitches, gave her some supplies and some instruction books. A few days later, I bought her a box to store her sewing supplies in and she's really taken to it. The other afternoon, I came home from work and found her in her room listing to Taylor Swift, sewing gnomes and felt monsters, and looking closer to 15 than her 8 years. Time is not my friend.

Coloradao

Iris and I flew to Colorado to visit our wonderful friends last weekend. We ate yummy food, toured the community, shopped some flea markets, and visited their church and their new house. It was beautiful and relaxing. Iris was the perfect travelling companion. She loved the plane ride, and kept up through security and all the lines. I could not hold her hand on the many escalators in the Denver airport, and a sweet lady held her hand for me. We were greeted with kindness at every turn. Iris and Mia talked and laughed the whole way home from the airport. Listening to them made me a bit misty eyed. On the plane, Iris had said, "Mom, you know how me and Mia do Facetime on the phone? This is going to be much better!" Oh, how right she was!

He Is Risen Indeed!

We had some sweet friends over on Good Friday for pizza and egg decorating. It was fun, relaxed, and the perfect way to kick off our Spring break (Dan and mine, that is)! Henry would only use the orange dye. It was pretty hilarious; no one could get near his cup!

We went to church Saturday night, and the Easter bunny left his annual jelly bean trail to the kids' baskets Sunday morning. It was a peaceful morning. We made Resurrection rolls for the first time. We read John 15 about Jesus being placed in the tomb as we assembled them, and we read about the resurrection after they came out of the oven. It was a beautiful illustration for our littles, and I'm sure we will do it again next year.

Our parents came over for brunch and an egg hunt. Dan and I put coins in the plastic eggs, and the kids couldn't have been happier. We went to my dad's for the afternoon, topping off a perfect day celebrating Jesus's love and God's grace. I'm always humbled to remember the ultimate sacrifice made for a mess like me.
