Misc. Monday: Mini-Electric Guitar Progress
Dan is building Lilly an electric guitar per her request for her 6th birthday. You can see the schematics she drew in this previous post. The process is simply amazing, and blows my mind! The body and neck have been sprayed and are hanging in the garage to dry. Last night, Dan borrowed my old Singer sewing machine to wind the pick up. He had to explain it to me too. He used the sewing machine to wind hair-thin copper wire around a set of magnets that are mounted to the front of the guitar. This set of magnets "picks up" the vibrations made by the guitar's strings and sends them to the amplifier to make the sound. What is more amazing than me understanding what I just wrote is that Dan has had to fabricate everything for this guitar himself since it is only 3/4 the size of a regular guitar. So not only is he doing all the woodwork, but he is doing all the metal work as well. He even designed and made his own decal for the headstock, spending hours on the computer getting his font to look just like Fender's. I'm tell you, he is amazing!!

Wee-ones Wednesday: GOBBLE GOBBLE
The holidays just get more and more fun around here. I took a day off of work to help prepare the kindergarten feast in Lilly's classroom. I had so much fun watching Lilly with her teacher and friends. She really is growing up, and you wouldn't believe the technology those little pilgrims have access to!
Iris had a little feast at preschool too. Her favorite part was watching the popcorn "pop pop pop" and eating her fruit loop necklace. My favorite part was the sweet turkey she made using her footprint, definitly a keeper.
Hendricks couldn't be left out of the festivities and enjoyed trying on all the costumes the girls made at school, but what he really wanted was to get his hands on that fruit loop necklace! Next year, my boy. Next year.
Happy Thanksgiving, dear friends! We love you.

Wee-Ones Wednesday: And So It Begins
This boy is on the move. He has more bruises on his head from falling and crawling into things than his sisters ever did. He stands up on anything he can get his hands on, including your pant legs. It is so impossible to put a diaper on his squirming bum that they couldn't get his pants back on him Sunday in the church nursery. Is this what little boys are made of?

Misc. Monday: Our Lil' Poet
I ran in my room
To scream on my broom,
Just screaming for my wound
And when my wound was gone,
I ran in my lawn
and then I was gone
and I yawned.

Halloween was so much fun this year. It makes me smile when I watch the shear joy on the kids' faces as they dress up, run around like crazies, and don't get into any trouble. Good for them. The next morning, Iris cried, "I want Halloween again!"
(Can you guess what parts of the costumes I made?)
