Wee-Ones Wednesday: Dance Recital

Iris and Lilly had their dance recital last Sunday and it couldn't have been more perfect. All five grandparents and Penny & Sophia were there, while sweet Auntie Heather watched Henry, so Dan and I could focus on the girls. It was bitter sweet because Lilly has informed us that she no longer wants to dance and would like to give soccer a try. Iris, on the other hand, is determined to be an "ice skater ballerina" when she grows up. I feel so blessed to have found Selah dance company at Calvary Community Church in Brea. Not only is it affordable, but the girls dance to worship songs. I was literally bawling during Iris' main dance and even bought the CD by Rend Collective that has the song "Build Your Kingdom Here" on it. It is soooo good, kind of Mumford and Sons meets Avett Bros. meets Jesus! Love these two girls so much!

Misc. Monday: Memorial Day

Memorial Day was celebrated by an old fashioned block party on Hale Ave. The street was blocked off and everyone was safe. We kicked off the festivities with a bike parade, ate tons of food, and played lots of games. Some of our neighbors have been here more than 20 years. They are very excited by the resurgence of little ones on our street, as many of their kiddos are in high school or even off to college. Henry really enjoyed his freedom and was found in many places he did not belong. Now I have to reteach him that it's not okay to run out in the street! Ah, some freedoms are short lived.

Misc. Monday: Peep Peep

My best friend, who happens to teach next door to me, thought it would be a good idea to hatch chicken eggs in our kindergarten rooms this year. It was quite stressful, but in the end, very rewarding. I dreamed about chicks, spent hours researching hatchlings, and prayed that the experience would be a good one. Some fatal mistakes were made, and we learned a lot. Our students were enthralled and in love. They learned so much about the life cycle. We took precious photos of each one of them holding a baby chick. It's too soon to say if we will do it again, but you never know...
I had the pleasure of bringing two of them home for four days, and my littles thought I was the coolest mom ever and that was worth it!

Misc. Monday: Mother's Day

family pics at church

so much fun, celebrating with these two

sweet flowers,

dan's surprise project with the girls,

so spoiled,

homemade cards,

pretty cards to add to my bunting next year!
Mother's Day just keeps getting better and better. Saturday, I went out to lunch with my mom and my sister. At church that night, we took some family photos and Henry smiled! Sunday, I woke up to French toast with homemade berry butter and was showered with gifts. Then I got to spend the day shopping with my best friend, and came home to a delicious dinner. Dan was super Daddy, and I am blessed beyond measure.

Sew Crafty Saturday: Mother's Day Decor

Am I the only one who decorates for herself for Mother's day? wink wink. The girls ask me what comes next as soon as the decorations come down, and our arch looks so empty with nothing draped across it, so I just had to! I printed the free, vintage "mom" bunting (it's on my pinterest page) and hung up the Mother's Day cards Dan has bought for me over the years. The girls decorated the chalkboards and I get to feel special for a month. Whoohoo!
