Paw Patrol Saves Breakfast

I can't believe my baby is 4! I guess he's no longer a baby technically. We celebrated with a small party, 10am to noon, with close friends and family. It's funny how when they are little, everyone stays, so a small party becomes a big one. insert smiley face. I could tell he was processing a lot of emotions. He woke up for a week asking if today was the day, so when it finally arrived, I don't think he knew what to do with himself. He recovered quickly and had a great time. He asked for a Paw Patrol party, so he got one with all the fix-ins, including dog bowls filled with kibble (cocoa puffs).
Henry is such a live wire. He is impulsive and loud. He loves to run, jump, and get dirty. I always tease the girls that if he came first, they wouldn't exist. God certainly has a sense of humor. Henry is the best cuddler in the family. He loves to be close to you and he loves to listen to books. He's full of joy and he completes our little family.
Happy 4th birthday, Henry! We love you more than you can ever imagine!

Now We Are 40

Dan and I turned 40 within two months of each other, so we decided to have a little party to celebrate. It was so nice to have some of our nearest and dearest under the same roof. I really love these people and I'm really loving being 40. I feel so blessed. I have an amazing husband, and three children who challenge me to be my best every day. I love teaching kindergarten, watching those little miracles learn to read brings me so much joy. I appreciate being able to job share all these years. I feel God's grace every day, and am learning to "be still." 40 is a nice place to be. I guess I'll hang out here for a while.

The Big 40!

My sweet husband turned 40 in the midst of the Christmas chaos. His birthday fell on a Friday, and my mom brought over donut holes to celebrate before we all went off to work and school. That night, we talked about how much we love Daddy and ate his favorite BBQ. He was loved and celebrated, but not enough in my book. My 40th comes in February and I think we need to have an huge adults only party. He's not convinced, but I still have a few more months to talk him into it.
Happy birthday, my love. You are by far my favorite person on this planet!

SIX

Iris seriously had a month-long birthday celebration. Her party was weeks ago, presents kept trickling in, she had a second family party in the park, and birthday decorations remained up longer than usual. But when the 30th arrived, we knew it was her day, and her day alone. Dan went out to get her donuts for the morning before school and a giant jar of pickles to open after dinner. She awoke to a visit from our elf, balloons on her door, and a new dress to wear. Iris wore the crown her teacher gave her all evening and relished in the day being all about her. She chose what we ate for dinner, what music we listened to in the car, what books we read, and what we watched on TV. She enjoyed every second of it!
This girl is such a sweetie. She has a heart of gold, and a glowing smile. Iris is funny, and kind. Children flock to her. She is generous and forgiving. She loves to go shopping and make people laugh. Iris wants everyone to be happy, and feels awful when they don't. She has great manners and makes me very proud. She is a wonderful sister, and peacemaker. I can not believe she is six years old. I love her so much, and am very glad that she is mine!
