The party was a smashing success! Everyone managed to enjoy themselves in the 90 degree heart. Kids and parents alike dressed up, and had a blast. Hendricks smiled for our family photo, panned for gold, took a little nap, and was woken up in time for us to sing "happy birthday!" Iris had a grin from ear to ear the entire afternoon. She felt very special, and at one point whispered in my ear, "Can I open presents now?" She thanked everyone for coming and gave tons of hugs and kisses. We did it. Yee Haw!

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Easy Bandana Dress

I can't reveal what Iris and Henry will be wearing to their cowgirl and cowboy party, but I had to share the bandana dress I made Lilly yesterday.  I picked up a new pink tee-shirt on sale, cut 2 bandanas in half and sewed them to the bottom of the tee-shirt. When Lilly got home from school and tried it on, we realized it was a bit too long, so I cut the shirt right above the skirt and reattached it. Iris said, "Ooooh, I love the ruffle!" and I have to agree with her.

Sew Crafty Saturday: Cowboy & Cowgirl Birthday Party Prep

Iris and Henry were both born in March, so we are having a joint birthday party for them to celebrate. There are many themes that would have worked, but I've always loved the idea of a vintage cowboy party, especially after watching this old Disney cartoon. Check it out. My kids love it, and the house is filled with the best furniture. Here's some of the things I'm working on:

I designed the invitation myself using the website picmonkey
and free western fonts I downloaded.

I ordered the boot piñata from Oriental Trading Co. only to get it in the mail and have everyone in my house tell me how small it is, so I bought a bigger one and figure the little kid can smash the boot, and the bigger kids can smack the badge. The pie tins will be used to pan for gold.

It's not a party if there aren't personalized water bottles.

Photo props just had to include ginger haired mustaches!

There will be bandana buntings everywhere.

...and so much more to do!!
