Summer is officially over. It was our best one to date; so many memories were made, so much fun was had, and we really connected as a family. I feel so blessed to be married to another teacher. We can look forward to summers for the rest of our lives. I'm trying to talk Dan into renting a giant RV and travelling the U.S. He's not sold on the idea yet, but I'm not giving up! The transitions to and from school are never easy. It's only been a week, but it already feels like summer was eons ago. Looking at these pictures makes me smile. Good bye, summer... until nest time!

O C Fair

We had an absolute blast at the fair this year! This is the first year we took the kids and they were the perfect age. Dan and I both entered something, a guitar for him and a mini-quilt for me. The kids were super impressed to see mom and dad's hobbies on display. For $1, we got to feed butterflies while they landed all over us. The girls turned in book reports and got three free carnival rides. Henry was not a fan of his first roller coaster! The new ice exhibit was amazing, beautiful, and freezing. We watched the Alaskan pig races, walked around with friends, ate yummy food, pet tons of animals, took silly photos, and laughed all day. We stayed way longer than I thought we would. I can't wait until next year!

Parents Only

I gave Dan a hotel stay in San Diego for Father's Day, and I'm happy to say he decided to take me with him! It was very relaxing, and all for him. We visited many breweries (Balast Point, Bottle Craft, Modern Times, and Black Market), a hip lumber yard, ate tons of yummy food, saw the Beach Boy movie "Love & Mercy," and went to bed early! When we woke up the next day, we went to a local coffee shop in Little Italy and then headed over to Balboa Park. We have been to San Diego with the kids at least 5 times, and have never visited this gem. Words can not describe how amazing the park is! We went to an art museum, had lunch, took in the beautiful gardens, listened to music, and planned our next adventure when we go back with the kids.

My mom decided to take the kids to Big Bear while she was babysitting, so we had a chance to be alone in our own house, such a treat! The next day, we drove up there to meet the kids and spend time with the Henry family. We went to the lake with my sweet mom before she drove home alone. Then met our dear friends at the famous Alpine Slides. We had so much fun, especially Lilly who learned that she was too old to ride with mom and dad! She balked at first, a bit fearful (poor girl) because she even had to ride the lift along, but she overcame and wound up having a blast. I was so proud of her; she really is growing up!
