Sew Crafty Saturday: Easter Has Arrived!

We Love Easter. When you think about it, it really is the most important holiday. Without the miracle of the Resurrection, Christmas would just be another little boy's birthday! I have gotten in the habit of decorating for every holiday and event, and my girls have gotten in the habit of asking me what comes next as soon as one celebration is over, so when the birthday party was put away, out came Easter. This year, I gave up Candy Crush for the Lent season. I don't always follow that tradition, but it really spoke to me this year, and even though it is silly, I felt like I was playing a little too much. I'm not going to lie, I miss it, but every time I think about playing, I thank Jesus for what he did on the cross. It's a simple reminder of the most beautiful thing!

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Build- A-Bear Tradition

Dan has taken the girls to Build-a-Bear for every birthday since their first birthday, and this year was no different. Iris was ready, and Dan got to be that special dad yet again. He told me he put the "princess pal's" dress on backwards and the sweet girl working there kindly fixed it for him. The fact that he is willing to do something a bit out of his comfort zone for his little girls makes us all love him a little more!

The party was a smashing success! Everyone managed to enjoy themselves in the 90 degree heart. Kids and parents alike dressed up, and had a blast. Hendricks smiled for our family photo, panned for gold, took a little nap, and was woken up in time for us to sing "happy birthday!" Iris had a grin from ear to ear the entire afternoon. She felt very special, and at one point whispered in my ear, "Can I open presents now?" She thanked everyone for coming and gave tons of hugs and kisses. We did it. Yee Haw!

Dear Hendricks,
I find it hard to believe that you are already two. It seems like you were born just last week. Not a day goes by that I don't feel grateful for your presence in our home. You are such an incredible little boy, and by that, I mean to say you are all boy. You climb like a monkey, jump fearlessly, and run like the wind. You don't say very much, but we all know what you want. You give the best hugs and the wettest kisses. I never want to forget the way your rub your right ear when you are tired or the way you raise your legs up when I try to put you down. You love to cuddle and my heart squeezes a little every time you yell, "mama!" and run my way. You are my last, my baby. There's something very tender about that, so forgive me if I love you a little too hard as you grow up. I pray for you everyday... that you make strong friendships, that you don't move too far away, that you marry a woman who loves Jesus, that you grow up to be kind. Most of all, I pray that you follow hard after Jesus all of your days. I love you, sweet precious boy. Happy birthday!
xoxo, Mommy

Misc. Monday: 80s Rule!!

My best friend turned 40 this month and celebrated with an 80s themed party. It was so much fun! I found some animal print leggings at Target, a puffy skirt at the Goodwill, borrowed my daughters' jewelry, one of Maddie's gloves, and was good to go. Dan went as Dee Snider from Twisted Sister. He was hilarious! Everyone looked great and had tons of fun. The decorations were perfect. They blew up tons of photos of Heather from the 80s, had neon everywhere, and even got a photo booth. Heather may be 40, but she's still red hot! Happy birthday, Heather. We love you!
