Sew Crafty Kitchen: Cupboards
There is a wonderful surprise waiting for you when you open a cupboard in the Michael kitchen. I had so much fun doing this. The backs are all lined with beautiful coordinating scrapbook paper (thank you, Sherry!) and the fronts have been adorned with ric rac. Have I ever shared my love of ric rac with you? My favorite shelf is the little baking one. My sweet husband spray painted the tops of various jars red for me. Isn't he a doll? Next up, new kitchen curtains. Say good bye to curtains of curtains. The new fabric is much more...mature.

Wee-One Wednesday: Preschool Finale
Lilly's closing week of preschool was quite busy. There was a program at 7pm on Tuesday, and a promotion ceremony the next morning. Her class dressed up as the months of the year. Lilly was September, so got to dress as a teacher (lucky girl). She was perfect for her part, and did pretty well waiting through the other classes. It wasn't until the grand finale that our little girl decided that all this attention was the best thing ever. You could actually see her wheels spinning. She started singing louder and louder. She began to jump up and down. Then she lifted up her dress to the standing room only audience! Everyone laughed and laughed! She was in heaven! She had found her place in the world and apparently that place is a stage. I was mortified at first, but after many encouraging words from teachers and parents, Dan and I just have to laugh. We look forward to showing the video to all her friends on prom night.
She was much more subdued for her promotion the next day. I think the night before definitely wore her out!

Sew Crafty Saturday: I've Been Busy
I really like this little boy blanket I made. I used up some of my fabric stash (so I can buy more) and did a wonky stitch 3x around the cars in red after ironing them down with fusible webbing. I also zig zagged all the way around to finish it off. I drew the cars out free hand and just cut them out like paper, super easy! Hmmn... I wonder who will call this little guy his. If I can get it away from Iris, that is!

Misc. Monday: Teeeeething!
Baby Iris was a mess last night. She was awake for over 12 hours and for a girl who takes two 2 hour naps a day, it was crazy. We have never heard her cry/scream like she did last night! Not once, in her short 14 months of life. We got her up, gave her Tylenol and Hurricane, let her walk around, gave her a bath, took her to bed with us, fed her. She would walk around dragging a little blankey, crying, and putting her head down on our knees. I wanted to call urgent care because she was out of her mind, but there was no fever. I prayed and prayed for peace and comfort. It's just so hard to see your child hurting. At 1:30, I asked Dan to drive her around for awhile. He did, and at 2am, I met him at the car and carried the poor baby to bed. Today she slept from 11am to 4pm. Poor, sweet baby! Getting three teeth at the same time really sucks!

Sew Crafty Saturday: Tea Towels & Such
Well, my first week off was really busy. I went back to Collegewood to pack up and move my classroom, hung out all day with my sister, had a play date, had a girl's night out, and ran a bunch of errands. I am, however, happy to report that I was able to sew up and embroider some tea towels and scrapbook Halloween '09 for Iris. If you have a June birthday, you may be getting one of these little gifts. Also, I realize that Halloween was a long time ago. but I promise to finish Iris' scrapbook this summer. I have plans for a scrappin weekend away with friends, and am trying to get a craft (wine drinking) night put together too. Woohoo! Summer crafting has begun!

Miscellaneous Monday: Backyard Bliss
Have I told you how much we love summer? I know, it's not official yet... but in So. California, this is close enough! We spend all of our afternoons outside: riding bikes, grilling, wading in the pool, bouncing, sidewalk chalking, and hop scotching. We are getting about 5 strawberries a day in the garden. The tomatoes are flowering, sunflowers are as tall as me, carrots are getting bigger, and we've eaten two batches of home grown broccoli! I think we are going to be able to put in a second crop mid-summer. I know this is going to be a great summer... I can feel it!

Sew Crafty Saturday: 3.02.2008
I just looked through my old blog. Wow, did I have way more time before we had two babies or what? I was sooo crafty. It's hard to believe I have been doing this for over two years now! And the pictures of Lilly blow me away. I don't even see her as a baby anymore. I never understood how mom's could say, "I don't remember." I get it now! She was fun, sweet, smart, and sooo cute. I'm so happy I'm doing this...what a wonderful reminder of every day life. If you have the time, take a look: http://www.mama2lilly.blogspot.com/

Wee-Ones Wednesday: Flahertys
The girls have a new cousin, Katherine Marie. She is beautiful and we can't wait to see her again this summer. Cousin Michael is now the only boy on both sides, which makes him quite popular. The Flaherty cousins live about 5 hours away, and whenever I tell Lilly we are going on a long car ride, she asks if we are going to see Cousin Michael. It's so important to talk about family and friends even when we don't get to see them very often. Through pictures, conversations, visits, and phone calls we are able to create a wonderful relationship for the kids. We are looking forward to going to Disneyland with them this summer. It will be their first time (even Uncle Ryan's) and we can't wait!
