DAY ONE
We returned to Lodi this summer to visit Dan's sister and her family. We decided to stay longer this year, since we had so much fun last time. I packed the kids' travel boxes and ipads. We stopped at Buck Owen's Crystal Palace and a famous candy/ice cream shop in Bakersfield. They did great in the car except for the very first day when Henry decided to have a melt down for an hour because he wanted what Iris had. Oh, the woes of teaching lessons. I so wanted to just give it to him, so he would stop screaming, but I knew in my heart that is what creates monsters, so we never gave in. We did however, decide to stop at a random Petsmart store to see if that would do the trick, and sure enough the little beast fell asleep for the rest of the drive. When we arrived in Lodi, we swam, ate dinner, and swam. It was heavenly!
DAY TWO
The next morning, we visited a ranch where we rode horses, visited animals, and rode in the back of a truck bed. The kids loved it, and couldn't believe they could when we said, "yes." It felt scandalous! Kinda like the 80s. That evening we swam some more, Lilly built a raft with her cousins, and we ate s'mores. Summer bliss!
those are memories i have from my childhood. so great, horse riding, riding in the back of trucks, and swimming. such fun.
